Summer Project

School is OUT! Well, technically I have two more days as a teacher and then I check out Thursday morning...but for all practical purposes, School it OUT for the summer.

I have been brainstorming projects to get done keep me busy for the summer : ). I tend to go a  bit stir crazy without something to be working on. Of course, the main priority will just be time with the kiddos, library trips, swimming lessons, etc. But I find it helps me to have some projects for me to work on too.

Here is my wish list of things I would like to get done:

1. Learn to play the guitar (that one is a big one...probably won't get done, but it is a wish list after all)
2. Find and refinish an end table for the living room.
3. Paint some cute little shelves I got at the thrift store yesterday.
4. Paint a little doll table set that I got at said thrift store. (This is a set for Kit)
5. Help (???) Jason finish the bookshelf he is making for Rylan's room. I'm not sure how much help I will be there...maybe I can help him out with other stuff so he has more time : )
6. Spend some time with my nieces and nephews. 3 nieces and one nephews are already scheduled for an overnight stay or two this June and we are looking forward to that.
7. Clean out / organize the drawer where all the kids' school papers/pictures/random junk gets placed during the school year. The whole secretary needs organized, really.

8. Reupholster the chair I got at Salvation Army yesterday. I have put some picture below. I have never reupholstered a chair before, but there is a first time for everything right? It was pretty cheap since we used a 50% off coupon at Salvation Army. We got the fabric on clearance too, so at least we are not out a ton of money and still have no chair.  I have been reading a blog about such things here:  http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/
....but that doesn't mean I'll  be successful. I am looking forward to trying though. Without further ado: (there's been too much ado already!), here are the 'before' pictures of my Salvation Army find:
And this is the fabric that will be gracing it sometime this summer.

Maybe having it out in cyberspace will hold me accountable. : )

Happy Summer!

  1. That's a cute chair, Christine. Maybe I should create a "to-do" list for the summer but that would just be setting myself up for failure :-)
